The tour covers almost the entire island and its rich 3000 year history.
After being settled by the Greeks from Syracuse in 397. b.c, as their first town in the Adriatic, the Greek Issa quickly becomes the hub of the entire region due to its strategic position, superb harbour and abundant drinkable water on the island.

The Strategic value of Vis continues through the Roman Empire times, Middle Ages, Renaissance and into Napoleon Wars when the island becomes a British stronghold from which they disrupted the entire French effort in the Adriatic.

In the period up to the 1st World War, Vis is strongly contested by Austrian Empire and Kingdom of Italy, resulting in the y. 1866. Battle of Vis.

In 2nd World War, following Italy's surrender, the island becomes a refuge for the resistance forces led by Tito, as well as an Allied airfield that saved over 3700 pilots from crashing into the Adriatic.

The story of Vis concludes with almost 50 years of isolation during the Cold War, when the island was turned into a military base by Yugoslav People's Army and numerous tunnels were drilled under the ground to fortify it.

Today, Vis is one of the last paradise oases of the Mediterranean, a Unesco Geopark with untouched nature, sparkling sea and dramatic coastline.

Our local guide will take you with a jeep over the whole island and he will tell you all the history of the island and what happend in the war.
He will bring you to the military tunnels, the nucleair bunker, show you where the soldiers lived and more.
